The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) is intensifying its focus on cyber risk and digital resilience, marking it as a strategic priority starting January 2025. This MOVE aligns with the implementation of the Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA), aimed at bolstering ICT risk management across the EU securities market.

National Competent Authorities (NCAs) have shown strong initial engagement, conducting proactive checks and capacity-building initiatives to ensure compliance with DORA. ESMA urges continued efforts in 2026 to maintain robust supervisory coordination and enhance the financial sector's resilience.

Parallel efforts on ESG disclosures, a priority since 2022, underscore ESMA's commitment to comprehensive market oversight. The regulator's dual focus on digital and sustainability frameworks reflects the evolving demands of modern finance.
